Artist Showcase - Eloise Genest

Award winning artist Eloise Genest is a Fine Arts graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She worked as a professional illustrator for many years. Her paintings are in private and corporate collections nationally and internationally.

“Along with portraits and still life, I paint my favorite places - often imbuing them with a sense of fleeting time: changing New England leaves blowing in the wind that are more abstraction than realism; the violent beauty of a downed tree limb from a freak October snow storm in a stand of trees that still hold brightly colored leaves; a ‘New Life’ series of lively weeds sprouting amid decaying vegetation; a Gulf Coast beach where  intricate sand sculptures appear at sunrise that hadn’t been there the previous night.

Favorite figurative subjects are often kids painted in candid poses: A toddler’s first attempt at eating squash unassisted; a little girl playing with Grandma’s box of jewelry, a tiny tot befriending his neighbor’s dog. Often normal things seem magical. Sometimes they probably are.”
